Eli's Web-safe Colour Palette

Just move over the cells to see the #RGB Color Codes.
XHTML compliant.
If you add javascript to this to return the value of the selected colour I'd like to hear about it.
Download the 43-byte transparent GIF it uses here (Right-click, Save Target As...).
Note that if you don't choose to download the transparent GIF, it actually looks about the same until your cell size gets large.

Generated Table vs. Image Map

Size-wise, the above sample is just 10k more than an image map of comparable size:
Generated Table = HTML (30839) + GIF (43) = 30,822 bytes
Image Map = HTML (13060) + GIF (7851) = 20,911 bytes
The Generated Table is easier to customize and is scalable. Bigger, easier to see tables (see bottom of the page) use the same bandwidth as small ones. Try that with a map!
Cell size is a parameter and adding custom features is easier in code than on a 216-region map.
